One of our COMMUNITY HOUSING PARTNERSHIP families has recently moved into a new home and is in need of the following:  side tables, ironing board, kitchen table and chairs.  If you have any of these items to donate, please call (396-4900) or e-mail (andersons@hope.edu) Sarah Anderson.  Thank you!  We really appreciate all you do to help the families our church is working with.

BLANKET MONTH

Posted October 30th, 2008 by KO No Comments »

November is the month that we collect new or gently used blankets to be given to Community Action House for people who are cold. With the high cost of heating fuel, many more people are keeping their thermostats set very low. Please place your blanket in the tub in the narthex. They will be collected every week so that they will get to needy people right away. If you do not have time to purchase a blanket, just make a donation to the church and clearly mark it Blanket Drive. The Outreach Committee will be happy to do the shopping for you.

Forum on Hate and Hate Crimes to be Held in Holland October 30

Posted October 23rd, 2008 by KO No Comments »

“Where Does It Stop? A Community Forum on Hate and Hate Crimes” will be held Thursday, October 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Crossroad Church, Lincoln Ave. at 12th St, Holland.
The Forum is the result of the recent anti-racism Community Pledge (Not Here. Not Now. Not Ever Again) organized by local diversity groups and churches and signed by some 3,000 people; the Community Unity Potluck in September; and the Lakeshore Summit on Racism Community Action Team.

Representatives of the Michigan Department of Civil Rights will define hate crimes and how to resolve them. Area residents who have experienced racial incidents will speak.
