First Presbyterian Church is collecting hygiene kits for the citizens of Haiti so tragically affected by the earthquake.

Our hope is to have any donations brought to church ASAP in order to package and forward to the Ferncliff Disaster Assistance Center.  In case you were not in church Sunday or did not receive the handout a description of what is needed is below.

Hygiene Kit

1 hand towel (approximately 16″ X 28″, no fingertip or bath towels)
1 washcloth
1 wide-tooth comb
1 nail clipper (no metal files or emery boards)
1 bar of soap (bath size in wrapper)
1 toothbrush (in original packaging)
6 Band-aids or other adhesive bandage strips

Please do not add toothpaste to the Hygiene Kit. Toothpaste which has an extended expiration date will be added to Hygiene Kit shipments just prior to shipment. Seal all items in a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure.

Thanks to all of you who have donated hygiene kits or parts thereof. One hundred and fifty hygiene kits have been boxed up, sealed and labeled. Shipment is expected to happen in the next few days to Church World Service in Maryland. We have an excess of some items leading us to think that fifty additional kits could be put together. The missing items are:

30 hand towels (approx. 16″ X 28″, no fingertip or bath towels
50 wide-tooth combs
50 nail clippers (no metal files or emery boards)
15 toothbrushs (in original packaging)
30 ziplock bags

We have plenty of band aids, wash clothes, and bars of soap. Please bring what you can this Sunday or early next week so that we can complete this project.
