“OUR BOOK OF THE SUMMER” reading and discussion will begin on Thursday June 3 at 7:00pm. We will be exploring the book If Grace is True: Why God Will Save Every Person by Philip Gulley and James Mulholland. Our first meeting will be a chance to introduce the topic and hand out copies of the book for those individuals who don’t have a copy. We will meet every other Thursday through June and July. All voices are welcome as we delve into a dialogue of grace and Church doctrine, both of which are firmly rooted in the life and work of Jesus Christ. If you have any questions, email Pastor Matt (mattw@fpcholland.org) or call the church office (616-392-9022).
On June 18th, more than 1,000 people from 100 countries will come together to launch the World Communion of Reformed Churches at Calvin College in Grand Rapids. This represents the unifying of the Grand Rapids-based Reformed Ecumenical Council with the Switzerland-based World Alliance of Reformed Churches. At global ecumenical events such as this, there is an opportunity for local congregations to get involved and meet delegates who have traveled from around the world to attend the meeting. Churches in the area are invited to participate in the “Share & Host Weekend” on Saturday, June 26, and Sunday, June 27. An invitation has been offered to host three of these delegates here at FPC.
Hosts need to pick the delegates up at 2:30 Saturday and spend time with them Saturday night and Sunday morning. Sunday morning, the delegates will join us in worship and give them the chance to preach, teach, or share their stories with us. Hosts will return them to Calvin College campus or their hotels. Please contact Larry Lynn at 399-0799 or oldrun@aol.com or Jan Goodwin at 399-5440 or j.goodwin@att.net if you can be part of this historic and inspiring event.
